Personal Supports

Rationale

Our Personal Support Services module assists participants with personalized services to promote independence, build and maintain skills, and community integration in their homes and communities.

Scope

Services include support, supervision and training in:
• developing in-home skills such as budgeting, money management, home maintenance, meal preparation and laundry; and
• community integration and engagement to improve their quality of life such as grocery shopping, medical appointments, banking, volunteering, participating in community organizations, attending social events, and using public transportation personal care such as bathing, assistance with hygiene, and grooming.

Staffing and Training

Staff and volunteers working for or contracted with Virtuous who provide supports services or spend any time alone with a participate will meet the following requirements:
• at least 18 years of age;
• First-Aid and CPR Certified;
• pass a criminal background check via CJIS;
• participate in in-service training on the Person-Centered Plan;
• complete orientation and training as designated by DDA;
• if administering medication, have a current CMT;
• possess a valid driver’s license if transporting participants; and
• have automobile insurance for all vehicles that are owned, leased, and/or hired and used in the provision of services.

Setting and Location

Services will be provided participants home and in the community in the Central Maryland Region.
