Cheryl Brown

Cheryl Brown serves as the Executive Assistant to the CEO, providing vital support through scheduling, organizational coordination, and special project management. Known for her analytical thinking, calming presence, and administrative expertise, Cheryl plays a key role in keeping executive operations running smoothly. 

She is particularly proud of developing Virtuous’s quarterly newsletter using Canva, a creative endeavor that keeps teams informed and engaged. Cheryl also coordinated an audit review with BA Liberty—an initiative aimed at helping the State of Maryland enhance best practices for people receiving services through DDA. Her leadership helped showcase Virtuous’s team, programming, and program participants testimonials with clarity and purpose.

Cheryl's Leadership Approach

Since joining Virtuous in April 2024, Cheryl describes her experience as “amazing,” especially because of the supportive dynamic leadership. She brings highly valuable strengths to the team—including strategic organization, administrative precision, and a thoughtful, solutions-focused mindset.

Educational Background & Certifications

Cheryl earned her BA in English Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, and received the MPCTC certification during her career with the Department of Juvenile Services. Though originally interested in speech pathology, her passion for youth advocacy guided her to juvenile probation work, where she rose through the ranks to administrative and policy roles before retiring as Director of Licensing and Monitoring in 2013. 

Her post-retirement roles included working for Macy’s and the American Correctional Association before overcoming a personal health challenge and joining Virtuous. She is a Diamond Life Member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and contributes as a consultant to their Organizational Leadership Training Program.

Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys mentoring, reading, spending time with children, training others, listening to gospel music, and watching drama TV. She’s especially motivated by achievement and thrives in results-oriented environments.
