Keandra “Journie” Culberson
Title: Chief Executive Officer
Keandra “Journie” Culberson serves as the Program Manager for the Meaningful Day program, where she leads with empathy and a dedication to personalized supports. Her primary responsibility is ensuring that program participants have enriching daily experiences through community-based activities tailored to their individual goals and interests. With a focus on person-centered care, Keandra fosters an environment where participants feel supported, empowered, and engaged.
One of her proudest achievements is managing community service projects that bring participants into meaningful roles—such as delivering snacks to Old Post Road Elementary School’s faculty lounge. The school’s heartfelt response, including personalized gift bags, affirmed the positive impact of her team’s work and the value of community connection.
Leadership Values
Keandra brings compassion, empathy, and a fresh perspective to the team. Her advocacy-driven mindset and joyful energy support a culture of growth and healing, both for the participants and the staff she mentors. She sees challenges as opportunities and celebrates every milestone her participants achieve, finding fulfillment in witnessing their progress and joy.
Education & Credentials
Keandra began her academic journey at Alabama A&M University and later transferred to the University of Maryland Global Campus, earning her BS in Criminal Justice. She holds certifications as a Medication Technician, Mental Health Counselor, and in First Aid, CPR, and AED. Her background also includes extensive experience in security work, supported by multiple security clearances.
Her commitment to justice and advocacy stems from deeply personal experiences—including the loss of her aunt to violence. That tragedy sparked her initial pursuit of criminal justice and later evolved into a focus on cybersecurity to protect youth from trafficking and cyberbullying. Today, Keandra channels her passion into federal-level advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
Ongoing Development
While not enrolled in formal programs currently, Keandra actively engages in learning through conferences and forums such as Autism Speaks and MACS. She continues to educate herself on disability rights, policy, and the tools available to support the people she serves.
Personal Interests & Motivation
Beyond her role, Keandra enjoys collecting crystals and stones, reading, listening to music, and discovering treasures through thrifting. She finds professional motivation through her program participants, her own personal growth, and her faith. Her lighthearted spirit adds joy to the workplace—and she proudly describes herself as “a kid at heart.”
