Rationale
Our Community Development Services model, focus’ on the development and maintenance of skills through community engagement and membership with people who do not have disabilities. Services will promote engagement in community bases activities to
Scope
Services may include:
a. Participation in community events to increase socially appropriate behaviors and to build confidence in community-based environments.
b. Participating in community service opportunities to engage individuals in learning areas of interest to them and providing exposure to employment opportunities.
c. Transportation to and from activities and travel training as needed to ensure individuals are as independent as possible.
d. Self-advocacy skill building to empower individuals to be able to communicate confidently and skillfully on behalf of themselves regarding their needs and desires.
e. Nursing and personal care assistance in preparation and during the rendering of services.
Services will be provided in a community settings where activities will not be isolated and segregated unless specified in the Person-Centered-Plan based on the participants wishes and desires. Activities will be explored and inclusive of the participants preferences and desires.
Staffing and Training
Staff and volunteers working for or contracted with Virtuous who provide supports services or spend any time alone with a participate will meet the following requirements:
• at least 18 years of age;
• First-Aid and CPR Certified;
• pass a criminal background check via CJIS;
• participate in in-service training on the Person-Centered Plan;
• complete orientation and training as designated by DDA;
• if administering medication, have a current CMT;
• possess a valid drivers license if transporting participants; and
• have automobile insurance for all vehicles that are owned, leased, and/or hired and used in the provision of services.
Setting and Location
Services will be provided in the Central Regions of Maryland.
